ICE at Gaylord National Harbor

Before Jason and I knew that we would be taking a trip to San Diego together, we decided that a night away during the holiday season would be nice! So we booked a room early at the Gaylord National Harbor hotel during the Thanksgiving weekend. Even though we had just had the vacation, it was really nice to take another little get away!

Here is a view from our room! We had a beautiful atrium room!

We decided to head out right away and walk around! We found a beautiful tree set up. It just so happened that the tree was being lit that night!

Always fun to walk around the Peeps store!

An ice skating rink was set up by the water. Unfortunately it was really fake ice! It seemed horrible to skate on!

Ahhh, soaking in some rays!

 And jumping for joy!

Back to the hotel so we could check out ICE!

This year's theme, 'Twas the Night before Christmas.'

Yes, everything is carved out of ice! It was 9 degrees in there!

And everyone who walks through gets to look like a smurf with a blue parka!

Ohhhh, cookies! Yummy! Jason triple dog dared me, but I decided not to give them a try!

Santa and his sleigh!

A happy little snowflake!

This was by far my favorite room! The ice slide room!

Two slides on the left side of the room.

Three slides on the right side!

Head up the stairs towards Santa!

Then down you go!

Here is a video of one of my slides!

Jason heading up for his first turn!

And there he goes!

Here is a short video of one of Jason's slides!

My favorite place in the world!

Taking a break to ice skate with some kids!

A quick ice taxi ride!

This was the last room to go through and DEFINITELY worth the wait. It was an amazingly beautiful nativity scene. Just breathtaking!

When we finished in ICE we enjoyed a delicious fancy dinner. Then we went back outside to see the tree lighting ceremony.

We spent the next few hours huddled around a fire pit trying to keep warm while waiting for the tree to be lit!

Finally, it was lit! And beautiful!

Bonus . . . fireworks!!!!

Back to our room!

The next morning before checking out of the hotel we wandered around some. We found a room where they were making gingerbread houses!

Hi Gingy!

A train ride for the kids! Maybe next year we will bring Noel!

We went back through ICE again! We had to see if we missed anything and take another few rides down the ice slides!

Another dare by Jason to lick the ice!

In the New York room they had a camera set up that would put your picture on a big screen. Jason and I are in the middle back of this picture with our hands in the air!

Finished with ICE, we walked around by the water a bit more. We found this happy little penguin!

And this jolly man!

Hi Santa!

Yippeeee! I know him, I know him!

Santa took a ride on the carousel!

Thanks Matusiak grandparents for watching Noel while we got to be big kids! :)
